Why? Because these guys are going to make immediate impacts on teams that actually need them. If the Raiders draft a receiver or running back with their first pick, who cares? They still don’t have an offensive line that can protect the quarterback.

Look back to last season when the Browns used their first pick on Joe Thomas. It resulted in improved protection for Derek Anderson (who would have guessed?) and better blocking for Jamal Lewis.

Remember, offensive linemen are a heckuva lot easier to predict than any quarterback, running back, or wide receiver. And their presence can be felt this season, not the future. They might be the most overlooked players on every NFL team, but they’re just as crucial to a successful running game or passing game as a good running back or quarterback.
